Alcohol Reduction

Think you might be drinking too much?

There are so many reasons why people drink; from relaxation, stress, habit, fun, pain management, peer pressure, loneliness – the list goes on.

The Government advises that adults, both men and women, should drink no more than 14 units a week. But, it can be hard to know exactly how much a unit is – especially if we are drinking at home, as we all pour bigger measures.

If you feel your drinking is becoming a problem, or maybe you would just like to reduce your intake or try going alcohol-free for a while – our Alcohol Health Trainers can help you.

How can my Alcohol Health Trainer support me?

Cutting down on how much you drink isn’t always easy, but you won’t be alone.

Our Alcohol Health Trainers will help you understand more about your relationship with alcohol, what safe levels of drinking are and help remove the confusion around the number of units so you can begin to fix your relationship with alcohol.

Over regular sessions of support scheduled at a convenient time for you, you and your trainer will work in partnership so we can provide personalised support tailored to your needs and equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to support you beyond the service.

Alongside support you to reduce your alcohol consumption, we can look at other areas to support you to live a happy and healthy life such as:

  • Healthy eating
  • Losing weight
  • Increasing physical activity
  • Reducing stress

Alternative support

Cambridgeshire Recovery Service (CRS) works within the Cambridgeshire area to provide a recovery community for people in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions.

They provide weekly recovery cafes across 7 locations throughout Cambridgeshire, as well as art groups and activities that are open to anyone at any stage of recovery. As well as this, they host weekly online friends and family meetings to support friends and family of loves ones struggling with addiction.

Their service is open to anyone at any stage of recovery, and they ask that community members are well enough to attend respectfully, however complete abstinence isn’t required as they understand this is not always possible at early stages of recovery.
