Service in the Spotlight – Alcohol Reduction

Drinking alcohol, especially in the UK, can be part of social life, relaxation, or even a way to cope with stress. However, for many, it can become a habit that’s hard to break. That’s why our Alcohol Reduction service is here to support you every step of the way.

We support those who want to cut down, take a break, or stop drinking altogether. Our Alcohol Health Trainers provide specially tailored and non-judgemental support to help you reach your goals and feel more in control.

In our one-to-one sessions, either through phone call or face-to-face, you’ll work with a dedicated trainer to better understand your relationship with alcohol, what the government-recommended guidelines mean in real life, and how to make sustainable changes that work for you. These sessions can be arranged at times that suit you, making the support flexible and accessible.

Our approach is holistic – meaning we don’t just focus on alcohol. We also help with areas such as healthy eating, physical activity, managing stress, and achieving a balanced lifestyle, all of which support your wellbeing as a whole.

Our approach to alcohol reduction is personalised – there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Depending on your needs, we might explore strategies like mindfulness, journaling, managing your environment, and having open conversations with close friends or family. Today, there are also plenty of tools to support you, including helpful apps, peer support groups, social prescribing, and one-to-one sessions with trained professionals.

Now is the best time to start, as currently, Sober Spring – a 3-month challenge by Alcohol Change UK is full steam ahead, it challenges people to take a break from drinking and reflect on their habits. It’s a great way to test how alcohol fits into your life and explore the benefits of cutting back, with supportive resources and a wider community to keep you motivated.

Here’s what one of our clients had to say:
“I was drinking more than I realised – it had just become routine. I decided to give the alcohol reduction service a go after feeling low and tired all the time. My Alcohol Health Trainer helped me understand how much I was actually drinking and gave me realistic ways to cut back. I now feel more in control, I’m sleeping better, and I’ve even taken up swimming again. I’d really recommend the service – it’s supportive, friendly and made a big difference to me.”
