Setting yourself health goals and achieving them is great for your physical and mental health. If you would like to improve certain areas of your health and wellbeing, our team of qualified Health Trainers can work with you to make changes that make a real difference, however big or small. Our Health Trainers have a wealth of training and expertise to guide and support you to reach your health goals and live a healthier life.

How can a Health Trainer help you?

With this service, you will be assigned your own dedicated Health Trainer who will work with you to set realistic, health-related goals over 6 sessions of support scheduled at a convenient time for you. Your Health Trainer will work closely with you to discover what changes you could make that will be beneficial to reaching your goals.

Having people around you to help you reach your goals is so important, and this is why our Health Trainers are here to offer you support, understanding and advice every step of the way.

Our Health Trainers can help you with many elements of your health such as:

  • Healthy eating
  • Losing weight
  • Increasing physical activity
  • Reducing stress
  • Sexual health concerns

Who can get healthy with us

The service is open to anyone who is aged 16+ who lives in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough or who is registered with a GP in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough.

However, as the team are health trainers and are therefore NOT dieticians or nutritionists there are some patients who are not suitable for us to see.

These are:-

  • Any patient who is insulin dependent or who takes insulin (I.e., any type 1 diabetic patient or any patient with type 2 diabetes who takes insulin)
  • Any patient who has an active eating disorder (for example, anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating disorder). For these patients, please contact Personalised Eating Disorder Support (PEDS) by visiting Get the support you need | PED Support
  • Any patient with a diagnosed serious mental illness (SMI)
  • Any patient with a BMI exceeding 35 kg/m2 – these patients should instead be referred into the tier 2 adult weight management service
  • Any patient with complex health needs or those with multiple comorbidities
  • Any patient who needs to adhere to a specific diet and / or exercise regime as a result of a pre-existing condition (as advised by a health professional)

As well as our standard Health Trainer service, we also offer focused Health Trainers who specialise in certain areas such as, those struggling with their mental health, living with type 2 diabetes and more. Our focused Health Trainers include:
