Men’s Health Month

Prioritising Men’s Health this June, And Beyond

June marks Men’s Health week and month across the UK, a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about the unique health challenges faced by men and encouraging positive lifestyle changes that can make a real difference. Statistics show that men are less likely to seek help when it comes to their health, yet they face some of the highest risks. From heart disease and cancer to mental health struggles, it’s vital that we empower men to take charge of their wellbeing. At Healthy You, we’re here to support men of all ages in living longer, healthier lives, both physically and mentally.

💪 Why is Men’s Health Month so important?

Men continue to face significantly worse health outcomes compared to women in the UK. While the reasons vary, a common point is that men are less likely to talk about their health, seek support early, or access preventative services.

  • 1 in 5 men die before retirement age
  • 3 in 4 suicides in the UK are by men
  • Men are more likely to smoke, drink excessively, and carry excess weight
  • Men visit their GP 30% less frequently than women

Men’s Health in June exists to challenge these norms. It’s a time to focus on early intervention, prevention, and empowerment, showing men that looking after their health is not only important but fully achievable with the right support. By providing men with the tools, support, and motivation to take control of their health we can change the narrative.

🧠 What can men do to improve their health?

This month is about taking small but meaningful steps. Men can use this opportunity to:

Check in with themselves:

  • How is your physical health? Are you getting out of breath easily?
  • How’s your mental health? Are you more tired, irritable or withdrawn?
  • How’s your lifestyle? Are you smoking, drinking, or eating in a way that might be harming your health?

Start conversations:

  • With friends, family, or colleagues – talking reduces stigma and isolation
  • With health professionals – early intervention saves lives

Take action:

  • Book an NHS Health Check
  • Sign up for support services
  • Set realistic goals (even one small change is progress!)

🌟 How this month can help

Men’s Health Month gives men a focused opportunity to engage with available support. It’s focused on breaking the silence around mental health by opening and accessing professional support or community-led spaces like Andy’s Man club.

💙 Our Services: Free, Friendly and focused on Men

We provide local, free services that are ideal for supporting men at different stages of their health journey.

Stop Smoking Support

Quitting smoking is one of the most powerful steps a man can take for his health. Whether it’s your first try or fifth, we offer 1:1 expert advice, free nicotine replacement therapies, and quit plans tailored to you.

Quitting reduces the risk of stroke, heart disease, and multiple cancers.

Alcohol Reduction

Men are more likely to exceed recommended alcohol limits. Our alcohol service helps you to understand your relationship with alcohol, reduce intake in manageable steps, and improve your energy, sleep, and mood.

You don’t have to do it alone; our team supports without judgement.

NHS Health Checks

If you’re ages 40-74 and without a pre-existing condition, you may be eligible for a FREE NHS Health Check. It’s a simple way to spot early signs of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes.

Adult Weight Management

Men who join our programme can access free 12-week Slimming World vouchers, classes with a physical activity specialist and nutritionist to make long-lasting changes to how you eat and feel.

Falls Prevention

This service is designed to help you stay steady and safe. Our Falls Prevention support includes chair-based group exercises and advice for maintaining balance, strength and independence as you age.

Health Trainer

Work one-on-one with a Health Trainer who will help you set goals, stay motivated, and make realistic lifestyle changes that work for you. If you are a male from an Eastern European background, we have Health Trainers who can support you in your chosen language.

This June, make your health a priority
