Want to stop smoking?
We all know that smoking is bad for your health (not to mention bank balance) but giving up is another matter. If you’ve tried stopping or always thought it would be too hard then our Stop Smoking service is for you. People who get help to stop are three times more likely to stop for good due to the support and encouragement you would get from your own stop smoking advisor.
Swap to Stop is in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough!
Smokers aged 18 and over and living in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are be able to benefit from a Government scheme encouraging them to quit with the aid of a vape.
The Swap to Stop scheme supports adult smokers to quit their cigarettes for a free vape starter kit as part of a twelve-week programme of support. Adult smokers signing up to the programme can also benefit from other smoking treatments such as NRT to help manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
Swap to Stop is part of a series of new measures to help the Government meet its ambition of being smokefree by 2030 – reducing smoking rates to 5% or less.
Why you should stop smoking
No matter how long you’ve been smoking, you’ll feel the benefits of giving up almost straight away. Your taste and smell will get better in just a few days, plus as your lungs clear you won’t get out of breath so quickly. If your loved ones are non-smokers, you’ll also improve their lives. And don’t forget about how much money you’ll be saving the average smoker spends over £4000 every year on smoking. That’s enough for a family holiday to America each year.

The Healthy You, Healthy Schools Smoking Service For Young People
The Healthy You, Healthy Schools Smoking Service provides both smoking and vaping support for young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The aim is to provide a referral pathway for any young person who is smoking or vaping via a series of fully supportive and non-judgmental workshops which can be delivered on the school site in small groups or on a 1:1 basis by a member of the Healthy Schools team. This service replaces CamQuit and uses a behavioral therapy model to provide intervention and information tailored to the needs of the young people.
In addition to the workshops, informal drop-in sessions and/or lunch time stands can be provided to engage students throughout the school in conversations to help them make informed decisions about smoking and vaping.
More information as well as a bank of downloadable resources can be found here:
The Healthy Schools Service provides CATCH YOUR BREATH – the FREE school based smoking and vaping programme for young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Whilst there is a focus on prevention and universal delivery to Upper Key Stage 2 students via a 90 minute interactive workshop, both targeted cessation interventions as well as prevention assemblies can be delivered to Key Stage 3 and 4 students. The ultimate goal is for there to be a co-ordinated whole school approach taken by both the secondary schools and their feeder primaries to discourage smoking and vaping behaviour.
